About Craufurd House

Craufurd House is a family run Bed & Breakfast based in the lovely village of Cockfield, Nr Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk.  It is situated in the most wonderful rural yet easily accessible location surrounded by fields of ever changing crops.  Fantastic local walks and cycle routes (the Stowmarket to Cockfield loop cycle route runs right past the house) from our doorstep.  With extensive farmland views from your private rooms we offer you this luxury retreat.  Our aim is always to offer the very highest standard of comfort and personal service and to ensure a wonderful stay.

Only 3 miles away is beautiful Lavenham, the most complete medieval town in Britain - a treat for tourists.  We are just 7 miles from the centre of Bury St Edmunds, a wonderful historic market town, with its Cathedral, Abbey ruins, Georgian theatre and award winning gardens. We are also well situated for Cambridge, Newmarket, Sudbury and the Suffolk coast.

Craufurd House offers the ultimate in private B&B accommodation. The concern for our guests' comfort is strongly reflected in the attention to detail.

You will have sole use of your own private living/dining room as part of your suite which has a well equiped hospitality tray and some home made biscuits or cake for your arrival and the use of a small fridge.  A large squashy corner sofa and footstool ensure the greatest comfort and relaxation at the end of a long days exploring with another flatscreen TV and Sky.  There is a selection of books and a large collection of Suffolk magazines to read and enjoy.

The bedroom has Italian made furniture, a luxury hand sprung mattress, white bed linen, soft towels, fuffy white bathrobes, flatscreen TV/Sky and CD/iPod dock. Patio doors overlook the unspoilt views as far as you can see.

Your ensuite bathroom is beautifully designed with limestone tiles, large rain shower with mist jets and luxurious fittings.

As of the 19th July 2011 we became parents to four lovely hens that were only 11 weeks old.  They love nothing better than to be hand fed corn, have a cuddle and to free range in the garden. We hope for them to be laying our own free range eggs by September 2011.
